My Finished HealthCom Journey: Part Six

A little over a year ago I wrote about my unfinished health communications journey. Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to say that my health communications journey has finally finished. It was a long and daunting journey, but I have settled into a job that I could have only hoped would come along one day.

I’ve had an interest for several years in helping people be healthy, and that’s where my passion was focused. So when an opportunity came along to be a wellness coach, I jumped on it. Every day I work with individuals who are working to get healthy. I am able to help them on their journey to becoming healthy and help them to make lifestyle changes.

It’s not often that a job comes along about which you can truly be passionate. I currently hold several positions: wellness coach, clinic manager, and health communications specialist. I am also fortunate enough to be joining the company early in its lifetime, giving me the opportunity to grow along with the company. This allows me to learn many different facets of the business that I otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn.

As wellness coach, I have the opportunity to work with patients as they work towards a healthy lifestyle. Ever since my area of focus changed to health and wellness, my interest has been in the problems surrounding the obesity epidemic in our country. This position allows me to counsel individuals as they lose weight and inspire others to do the same.

As clinic manager, I am able to learn some of the behind the scenes happenings of the business, a role that I hope will continue to grow as the business grows. In this role, I am responsible for making sure bills are paid on time and for managing the supply chain to ensure we have adequate supplies for procedures and for our clients.

As health communications specialist, I once again have the opportunity to be involved in yet another facet of the business. I am involved in creating external messages through social media and I also contribute to marketing campaigns.

I am incredibly grateful that I was able to find a place like Solstice Health. I know that it is not only a place that I can grow and develop as a professional, but also a place where I have the opportunity to have an impact on someone’s health and set them up for a healthier future.

It definitely wasn’t always easy dealing with rejection and the stress of trying to find my way on my journey into health communication. But after finding myself in this role and having the opportunities ahead of me, it was worth the wait.
